For teachers and counselors.
AptKeys is a free set of plain how-tos for the practical parts of adult life, written for students about to be on their own.
The basics
- Free, with no signup. Students don't need an account or an email address.
- No ads and no tracking. There are no ads, affiliate links or analytics. Videos load from YouTube only when someone presses play.
- Sourced. Every lesson cites at least three sources from government agencies, established nonprofits, universities and established publishers, and shows the date it was last checked. See how we write.
- Accessible. Built to meet WCAG 2.2 AA, with keyboard and screen reader support, light and dark mode, and diagrams that have text descriptions.
Linking
Every lesson has a permanent address. Copy it from the browser, or send students to a path like I'm heading to college or I started my first full-time job, which put the right lessons in order.
Printing
Every lesson prints as a clean handout: the navigation, video and buttons drop out, and the sources and web address stay. Use the Print button at the top of a lesson, or your browser's print command. There are also one-page printable cards and phone scripts for role-play.
Right now
92 lessons across eight areas, 6 start-here paths, 13 quick emergency pages, 7 phone scripts and 3 printable cards.
